Arctotis or Daisy Felt Flower Pin

With little here to do or see
Of things that in the great world be,
Sweet Daisy! oft I talk to thee
For thou art worthy,
Thou unassuming commonplace
Of Nature, with that homely face,
And yet with something of a grace
Which love makes for thee!

- William Wordsworth (1770-1850)

Getting Started
Step 1: Cut out one daisy petal set. It make help keep things ruly if you pin down each petal.
Step 2: Clean up the little triangles along the bottom, so now it looks like petals radiating out from a center circle.
Step 3: So some embroidery if desired. I used 6 plain longish stitches per petal to add a "pink" hue to the proximal part of the petals.
Step 4: Continue with embroidery if desired. I use a single long dark pink stitch to continue working the african daisy coloration.
Step 5: Embroider the leaf as desired. Again, I used two colors of embroidery thread; a dark green to do the whip stitching around the edges, and a light green to running stitch in the middle.
Step 6: Cut out the center piece, plus two slightly smaller circles of felt.
Step 7: Place the two small circles in the center of the flower. These will provide a little extra shaping to the center. Center the leaf on the back and stitch all the layers together.
Step 8: Attach the sew-on pinback to the back of the flower.
Step 9: Embroider the center as desired. I used a chain stitch in a spiral pattern.
Step 10: Use a short whipstitch to attach the center to the flower, pulling the center as necessary. You're done!
