| Getting Started |
Step 1: Line up pattern pieces 1 and 2 (bag sides and bottom) at the tab, right sides together. |
Step 2: Use a 1/2" seam allowance and stitch across the top, pivoting at the corners. |
Step 3: Notch the outside corners and clip the inside corners. |
Step 4: Turn right side out and press. Topstitch along the top, and attach a 1/2" square (or 3/4") of velcro. |
Step 5: Fold the pocket into place. The easiest way to get the length right is to line the ends up with the lining sides and bottom (piece 3) and fold the excess to make the pocket. |
Step 6: Pin the pocket in place. |
Step 7: Baste up the pocket 1/4" inch away from the edge (you may choose to use a zig-zag stitch - make sure you stay within the seam allowance so this will not show later). Leave about 1 inch open at the top to sew on the other piece of velcro. Sew both edges. |
Step 8: Mark where the other half of the pocket velcro should be attached. |
Step 9: Stitch on the other half of the pocket velcro. |
Step 10: Now continue basting along the whole sides of the pocket. |
Step 11: Make the straps. Place two pieces of piece #8, with right side together. Sew up with a 3/8" seam allowance, pivoting at the corners. Leave the bottom open. Step 12: Clip the corners, turn, and press. Topstitch close to the edges. |
